Editorial standards

The rules we would like you to hold us to.

These standards apply to everything published under the Kidsomnia name, and the editor answers for them.

Independence

No advertiser, company, school, agency or campaign sees a piece before publication or has any say over it. Nobody can pay for coverage, for a position in a ranking or for a kinder sentence. If we ever carry advertising, sponsorship or paid links, each one will be labeled right where it appears, and rankings will carry none of it.

Neutrality on contested policy

School choice, testing, unions, phones in class: parents disagree, often for good reasons. We describe what a law does and what the data shows, including the findings that are inconvenient for each side. We do not endorse candidates, parties or ballot measures.

Facts and sources

Each claim is checked against an original document. On the page we link to government sources only. We do not invent people, quotes or anecdotes. A worked example with made-up figures is labeled as an example. If the evidence is thin, we say exactly how thin and what that means for your decision.

Dates

Each piece shows when it was first published. A piece shows an “Updated” date only when its meaning changed, along with a note on what changed. We do not refresh dates to look current.

Corrections

Mistakes get fixed quickly and in public. The piece carries a note on what was wrong, and the corrections page keeps a running list.

Children

This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and we never ask for data about your children. We do not name or picture private children.

Health and development

We are not doctors. We do not give medical, developmental or therapeutic advice. When a question touches that ground, the right next step is your pediatrician.

We explain how laws and tax rules work in general. That is not legal or tax advice for your situation, so check the details that matter with a qualified professional before you act on them.
